Most spiders in Oklahoma and Dallas-Fort Worth homes are harmless, but this area is also home to two that deserve respect: the brown recluse and the black widow. Both like quiet, undisturbed spots such as closets, garages, attics and storage boxes.
House spiders build messy webs in corners and windows. Brown recluses hide in clutter and rarely build visible webs, and black widows favor dark spaces near the ground, like woodpiles, meter boxes and under patio furniture.
Since 2010, our local team has reduced spiders by treating where they hide and cutting off the insects they feed on. Pick your spider below to learn how to identify it and what we do about it.
